Zinedine Zidane, the former French international, is undoubtedly the greatest player in the history of the French national team according to several observers.
The former attacking midfielder left his mark through his talent and incredible career, both with the national team and in club football.
Before joining Real Madrid as a player, Zinedine Zidane also played in Italy for Juventus Turin. There, he played alongside teammates such as Gigi Buffon, Alessandro Del Piero, and Filippo Inzaghi.
The latter has never forgotten the class that the Frenchman displayed at every training session, and even today, he recounts it to the media.
“I was at Juve when I first saw Zidane. During the first few weeks, I would run around the pitch and admire what he did with the ball. I watched him like a child watching a cartoon.
In training, I tried to do what he did, but I could never manage it… then one day he approached me and said, ‘Bravo! You are so strong in front of goal, congratulations.’ I didn’t respond, but I thought to myself, ‘if I’m good, what about him?’ Weeks went by, and whenever he had the chance, he would renew his compliments to me. One day, I said to him:
‘You are incredible, I have never seen anyone handle the ball like that.’
He smiled and said, ‘If I did what you do, I would already be in the hospital. And besides, waiting for the ball for a whole match, that’s madness.’
After his words, I realized that everyone was born to do something. I knew how to score goals, and he knew how to make the ball dance. You may have seen it in matches, but Zizou in training, he was supernatural,” Filippo Inzaghi recounted.
