Present at an event in Italy, Zinedine Zidane made an announcement about his future and opened the door to a new destination.
Since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Zinedine Zidane has been without a contract. Naturally, his three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018 and his two La Liga titles in 2017 and 2020 have caught the eye of major European clubs, with rumors linking him to PSG, Juventus Turin, or Manchester United.
On the international front, Algeria had also extended an invitation to him, but Zizou politely declined the offer from the Fennecs. Recently, it was reported that the former number 10 for France was on Bayern Munich’s shortlist to replace Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.
However, German media quickly conveyed that he would not be joining the Bavarian club. Time is starting to drag on for Zinedine Zidane, who had long awaited an opportunity with the French national team, but this hope dwindled rapidly after Didier Deschamps’ contract extension as the head coach until 2026, in January 2023.
Zinedine Zidane wants to coach. In an interview with beIN Sports, during the Super Bowl in the United States, he recently reiterated his desire to return to the sidelines. “It’s still my goal to become a coach again. Right now, I’m taking more time to do other things, that’s all,” he explained. But that’s not all, as the former Real Madrid manager has once again hinted at a new destination this Monday.
Present at the presentation of the biographical documentary on Marcello Lippi, Zinedine Zidane was asked about the possibility of coaching an Italian club soon, and he did not rule it out. “Coaching in Italy? Why not. Anything can happen, at the moment I’m doing something else, but I’m sure I’ll return to the bench, I’d like to,” he assured Sky Sports. This announcement should pique the interest of the presidents of Juventus, Napoli, and AC Milan.
