Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham faces an extended period on the sidelines due to injury, a tough blow for both the player and his club ahead of a crucial trip to Lisbon to face Benfica in the Champions League knockout stage on Tuesday at 21:00.
After suffering a hamstring injury in his left leg on February 1, the young England international was initially expected to be out for about a month. Already forced to miss two matches, his absence against the Lisbon side was confirmed. But the injury is more serious than anticipated, prolonging his recovery. According to The Athletic, and backed by several sources close to the player, Bellingham himself indicated that he wouldn’t be fit in time, with a return estimated between six and eight weeks.

Possible return in April
For now, Real Madrid has not made an official statement. If these reports are confirmed, the number 5 of the Casa Blanca will miss seven more club matches, including the double-header against Benfica and the Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid, scheduled for Sunday, March 22 at 18:00.
This situation could also complicate plans for the England team, which is set to face Uruguay on Friday, March 27, and Japan on Tuesday, March 31, as part of friendly matches in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
