Real Madrid are facing an unusual situation in the first half of the season. However, Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez has made a revelation about David Alaba’s injury. It was an outburst that forced the Austrian defender to speak out.
Real Madrid have achieved their mid-season objectives despite the difficulties encountered by Carlo Ancelotti. Having lost Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, Real Madrid recently saw David Alaba suffer a serious injury against Villarreal. According to the club, the former Bayern Munich defender is suffering from a cruciate ligament rupture and his season is already over.
“Following the examinations carried out on our player David Alaba, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the next few days”, Real Madrid said in an official statement after the Austrian was injured during the 4-1 defeat by Villarreal on 17 December.
But despite all the bad news, Real Madrid did everything right and finished top of their Champions League group. They inherited RB Leipzig in the last 16 of the competition, and in La Liga they finished the year in first place with the same number of points as Girona. But Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez revealed on his Twitter account that, in addition to the cruciate ligament, David Alaba’s injury also affected the meniscus.
“In addition to the cruciate ligament, Alaba’s injury affected the meniscus. In an attempt to regenerate the cartilage, tiny holes have been made to allow blood to reach the tissue. This will delay the healing a little, but it’s much better,” said the journalist.
David Alaba immediately breaks his silence
Real Madrid’s Austrian defender David Alaba spoke out for the first time after suffering a cruciate ligament tear that will keep him out of action until at least the end of the season. But what’s worth noting is that Alaba’s outing follows the bombshell published by journalist Ramon Álvarez.
“It took me some time to understand what happened last week. I’ve faced a few challenges in my career, but this is perhaps one of the most difficult to date. However, not only will I accept this challenge, I will face it head on and reach the top of this mountain. Thank you to my team-mates, Real Madrid, my friends, my family and everyone else for your love and support,” said Alaba on social media.
Early expectations were that Alaba could be available at the start of next season. But with this latest setback, all the indications are that his recovery period will be close to 10 months, meaning that he will miss the first two months of next season’s competition and then have to return gradually to avoid a relapse.
Good news for Real Madrid…
Over the Christmas break, Real Madrid picked up a number of injuries. Edouardo Camavinga, who was injured in the French national team, has returned to training. The same goes for Vinicius Jr, who should be back soon. Arda Güler, Dani Carvajal and Co are also back.
But that’s not all, as Florentino Perez has decided to reward his coach, Carlo Ancelotti. The Transalpine technician has extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2026, much to the dismay of Brazil, who wanted above all to sign the Milan legend.
Real Madrid will be able to continue their fine form when the season resumes. Carlo Ancelotti has a busy schedule ahead of him, but he has already demonstrated that he has the experience to handle the situation.
