Barcelona have no plans to sell Robert Lewandowski, but they do want to reduce his salary.
Robert Lewandowski is Barça’s star player, and this is stipulated in the contract he signed in July 2022 for three seasons plus another optional season.
The striker has agreed to a salary increase so that there will be no problems with the salary cap, and next year will be the year with the highest emoluments.
The Blaugrana club continues to have problems with the salary limit and is looking for friendly readjustments with certain players, and the Pole could be one of them.
The signing of Lewandowski was the coup de marché President Joan Laporta was looking for to relaunch the team’s sporting fortunes, and he pulled it off against the odds.
He has a good relationship with his agent, Pini Zahavi, and the striker’s desire to come to Spain made it possible. It was a hard-fought transfer and the Pole arrived at Barcelona with a cracking salary, especially for the 2023/24 season.
Barcelona never envisaged leaving Lewandowski, and the player is in no mood to leave, at least not next year.
He’s adapted perfectly and is happy at Barcelona. He’s not enjoying his best-ever goal-scoring streak, but he always finishes the course with a very high strike rate and has time to recover records.
At the Blaugrana club, we know that there are teams in Saudi Arabia very interested in the Pole.
And they would pay transfers and wages of a million dollars, but Lewandowski doesn’t believe the time is right.
He sees himself at Barça to fulfill his contract and play at the highest level for another two seasons. His physique is good enough for him.
But Barça should adjust their balance sheet for next year, and there could be an agreement between the two parties.
The player’s agent, Pini Zahavi, a good friend of Laporta, was in Barcelona a few days ago and made it clear that Lewandowski would not be moving either now or this summer.
And Barça continue to design their project around the Pole, who will share a position with new recruit Vitor Roque.
