Eder Militao, the Brazilian central defender, reacted on X (formerly Twitter) following his team’s elimination in the quarter-finals of the Copa America against Uruguay.
Despite a solid performance from the Brazilian team, the absence of Vinicius Jr, who was suspended for the match, was felt keenly.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw, and Brazil was eliminated in the penalty shootout (2-4).
Militao, who missed one of the decisive penalties, shared his feelings and his challenging journey this season:
“Everyone knows how difficult this season has been for me, with a serious injury that prevented me from doing one of the things I love most in life for nearly eight months, which is playing football.
From the moment I was cleared to return to the field, I gave everything, sparing no effort to regain fitness and reach my best level.”
Despite his injury, Militao came back strongly, helping Real Madrid secure another Champions League title. However, his focus was always on the Brazilian national team:
“In addition to Real Madrid, the Brazilian team never left my attention for a single day during those 232 days of treatment.
Winning this Copa America was an obsession, not just for me, but for our people.
In every match, I tried my best to deliver a secure performance and contribute to bringing peace of mind to our defense.
That’s why being eliminated, especially on penalties, hurt so much. All I wanted most was to score that penalty.
I will continue to work as hard as possible to change things. You can be sure that I will do everything in my power to honor our jersey. Together with the Brazilian people, we will achieve our goals.”
