Endrick’s absence causes scandal in Brazil

Brazil coach Dorival Júnior has announced his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Colombia.

Brazil will host Colombia in Brasilia on March 20 and, five days later, visit Argentina, reigning world champions and leaders of the South American qualifiers, in Buenos Aires. These are two crucial matches for Brazil, who currently occupy 5th place in the qualifiers with 18 points, 7 behind Argentina.

The list features the return of Santos’ Neymar Junior, who has not appeared for Brazil in 17 months. For Real Madrid, two strikers have been called up by Dorival, Rodrygo and Vinicius. Young Endrick, on the other hand, has not been called up. A decision that does not sit well with many observers in Brazil.

“It makes no sense for Dorival not to call up the Real player. It doesn’t matter if Endrick is on Ancelotti’s bench. What he shows when he’s called up on the pitch should be enough. Dorival calls up Neymar, who has recently recovered and is still looking for rhythm, but leaves out the sensation of the last two years. Endrick plays in more than one position. He’s a young, versatile and technical player. He’s the future,” offended journalist Milly Lacombe in UOL Esporte.

“A coward’s vision

« Laisser Endrick hors de l’équipe brésilienne révèle un état d’esprit, une vision du monde et du football. Fondamentalement, une vision de lâche. Kfouri.
