It’s been in the pipeline for the last few hours. And now it’s official. Luis Suarez will join his long-time friend Lionel Messi at Inter Miami on Friday 22 December 2023.
On the morning of this Friday, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano announced on his X account that Suarez’s transfer deal was ready and would soon be announced. He wrote in a tweet, “A one-year contract with an extra year has been agreed until 2025.” And finally, Inter Miami announced the news. Luis Suarez is officially a player of the MLS club.
Signing for Miami, Luis Suarez, nicknamed ‘el pistolero’, joins his close friend and former Barcelona team-mate, Argentina’s Lionel Messi, as well as Spaniards Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, who previously joined former England football star David Beckham’s Miami.
It should be noted that before his imminent move to Miami, Suarez (36) played for Brazilian side Gremio and was crowned Ballon d’Or winner for the best player in the national league in the 2023 season, scoring 17 league goals and also being the player with the most assists (11).
The former Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Ajax Amsterdam striker made 53 appearances for Gremio in various competitions, scoring 26 goals this season.
