While Zinédine Zidane waits for Didier Deschamps’ term as France manager to end in 2026, in hopes of taking over the national team, the Madrid press has revived the possibility of the former Ballon d’Or returning to the Real Madrid bench.
The question arises: Could Zidane return to his role with the Merengues before taking charge of Les Bleus? A three-time Champions League winner as Real’s coach, he is once again being mentioned, particularly by Cadena SER, as a strong candidate to succeed Carlo Ancelotti if the Italian were to be dismissed in the coming weeks.
The Merengues remain in the race behind Barça in La Liga, but their position in the Champions League is precarious, sitting 24th before their crucial clash with Atalanta.
Zinédine Zidane is among the names being mentioned, alongside Santiago Solari, currently the director of football at Real Madrid, and Raul, coach of the reserve team, Castilla.
According to speculation, president Florentino Pérez is seriously considering parting ways with Carlo Ancelotti before the end of the season. In such a case, an interim coach could be appointed temporarily, awaiting the arrival of Xabi Alonso, the favorite to take over the team starting next summer.
However, as a Cadena SER journalist stated this week, Zidane would not be willing to return to the Merengues for a short-term interim role of just a few months.
The coming weeks promise to be intense within the Casa Blanca. We will continue to closely follow this news in our upcoming posts.
