Present at the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) with Ghana, Iñaki Williams subtly disrespects the Algerian team.

Ghana international Iñaki Williams, a stalwart of Athletic Bilbao, has expressed his favourites for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

He underlined Ghana’s objective of progressing at least beyond the group phase, acknowledging the presence of formidable teams at this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2023.

Williams named teams such as Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Egypt as potential favorites to win the title, but stressed the unpredictable nature of African soccer, while expressing his desire to deliver a quality performance to honor his country.

Williams named teams such as Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Egypt as potential favorites to win the title, but stressed the unpredictable nature of African soccer, while expressing his desire to deliver a quality performance to honor his country.

However, the absence of any mention of the Algerian team, which was the highest-ranked nation in the qualifiers for this 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), was perceived as a lack of respect by the Athletic Bilbao winger.

His comments were not well received by the fervent supporters of the Algerian national team, who were quick to express their disapproval.

It is important to note that Ghana, who are in Group B, start their campaign against Cape Verde on January 14, then face Egypt on January 18, closing the group phase against Mozambique on January 22.
