Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he has a plan to stop West Ham United’s fluid attack led by Ghanaian striker Mohamed Kudus.
Kudus, along with Jarrod Bowen and Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta, formed a devastating attacking trio that tore apart Premier League teams in recent matches.
All three players have scored and provided assists for each other in West Ham’s last two league games, with Paqueta contributing five assists.
Ahead of Thursday’s game, Arteta admitted that the Hammers’ front three could cause problems for the team.
“They (Kudus, Paqueta, Bowen) open up space and work together very well in certain areas, making them very difficult to control.
” The area where you pass the ball is very important.
“Tomorrow, we will try to negate the opponent’s strengths and play to our own,” he said at the pre-match press conference.
Kudus and Bowen scored against the Gunners in the Carabao Cup match in November.
Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus made light of his superb goal against Manchester United on Saturday, netting his sixth of the Premier League season.
Speaking in the post-match interview, Kudus expressed his satisfaction with the goal, highlighting his ability to make an impact even with his supposedly weaker right foot.
“It’s scoring goals that I’m here to do,” Kudus said with a smile in remarks relayed by ghanasoccernet. “I also have the best seat in the stadium when I celebrate my goals. Lucas gave me the ball on the edge of the box, and with the defender closing in on my left, I had no choice but to go to my right. I believed in it, trusted my intuition and it was a good goal.”
Since his summer transfer from Ajax, Kudus has been in scintillating form for West Ham United, scoring an impressive total of 10 goals in just 17 games.
The dynamic player is a crucial component of Ghana’s provisional squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. The Black Stars will undoubtedly be relying on Kudus’ skills and goal-scoring prowess as they aim for success in this tournament.
