Goalkeeper David Akologo was called up by Bolivia on Thursday and then by the Ghana Black Stars on Sunday. Which national team will the goalkeeper choose to represent? We try to shed some light on the matter in this article.

Former Ghanaian under-20 international David Akologo now holds Bolivian sports nationality and is thus eligible to represent the South American country on the international stage. At 27 years old, the Aurora goalkeeper, based in Cochabamba, has been playing in the Bolivian league since early 2020. Therefore, he meets the country’s nationality law, which states that a foreigner who has resided continuously for at least three years qualifies for naturalization. This now applies to Akologo, who has represented four different clubs since arriving in Bolivia, a rather unusual destination for an African footballer.

In Algeria with Bolivia?

Approached by the South American team in August 2023, David Akologo had shown openness to the idea of playing for Bolivia. He is included in the squad selected by coach Carlos Zago for the FIFA Series. This competition, taking place in Algeria, will see them face the Fennecs on March 22 and Andorra on March 25. The goalkeeper is expected to be present at the Verde gathering. …

or in Morocco with Ghana?

But everything remains possible for the Accra native, and the Ghanaian press even claims that he may have decided in favor of his country of birth. If this information is confirmed, Akologo could make his first appearance in the Black Stars squad for the first time this March. The Ghanaian team, which recently announced the return of Otto Addo as coach, will face Nigeria (22/03) and Uganda (26/03). Both matches will be played at the Grand Stade in Marrakech, Morocco. The goalkeeper’s choice (Ghana or Bolivia) should be known shortly.
