Following the dismissal of coach Chris Hughton, Ghana has yet to appoint a new head coach.

Former Black Stars international Charles Taylor has put forward the name of ex-star Michael Essien as a potential candidate to take over the reins of the team. “We need to recognize that the right individuals are available to rejuvenate Ghanaian football.

I would suggest we consider Michael Essien for the coaching position, along with Stephen Appiah and Laryea Kingston.” According to him, these former players possess all the necessary qualities to implement the changes needed for the team to regain its status.

However, Ghanaian press reports suggest that Essien, who has recently obtained his UEFA and UEFA Elite Youth coaching licenses, is being considered for the next assistant coach position.

As for the selection of the future head coach, it’s worth mentioning that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formed a committee tasked with choosing a new coach. This committee has received over 500 applications, according to Federation president Mark Addo.
