Eliminated as early as the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Black Stars of Ghana failed to meet expectations in Ivory Coast.

But after failure comes the time for reconstruction, and Ghanaian supporters hope to see their team put on a better performance this March. Here is the schedule awaiting the Ghanaian national team during the upcoming international window.

Ghana: two matches in Morocco in March

Ghana will play two friendly matches in Morocco during the upcoming international break (March 18-26). First against Nigeria on March 22, then against Uganda on March 26. These two matches will take place at the Grand Stade de Marrakech. It should be noted that the Ghana Football Federation has not yet officially confirmed these two matches, which have been revealed by the respective opponents.

Who will be the new head coach?

While the Black Stars aim to move forward, uncertainty still looms regarding the new head coach. The name of Chris Hughton’s replacement remains unknown for the time being despite over 600 applications received. According to local press reports, Ghanaian Masud Didi Dramani, former assistant to Hughton, will take charge in March if a replacement is not found quickly. With just over ten days until the first friendly match, this option seems most likely.

As for the choice of the new head coach, a Ghanaian coach would be preferred by the Federation. A return to the post by Otto Addo would appeal to many followers and supporters of Ghanaian football, but it remains to be seen if the challenge would interest him. As a reminder, the former assistant coach of Borussia Dortmund had successfully qualified the Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup before returning to his club.
