Ivorian right-back Serge Aurier didn’t hold back in expressing his feelings following the “Elephants’” triumphant victory in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2024).

Caught in the moment of triumph, the former Paris Saint-Germain player did not forget his critics, especially Johnny Patcheko, the influencer who harshly criticized the Ivorian team after their shocking loss to Equatorial Guinea (4-0).

“In your face! Sit down and let me do the talking. You’re nothing but trash. Hey, I’m a two-time African champion,” he exclaimed in the Ivorian locker room. This outburst was quite unexpected from a player who has been dealing with high-pressure situations and playing at the top level for over a decade.

Serge Aurier’s Journey with the “Elephants”

Hailing from Ouragahio and developed at RC Lens, Aurier made his debut for the Ivorian national team in 2013, during a World Cup qualification match against Gambia.

Since then, he has appeared in 89 matches across all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 14 assists.

Alongside Max Gradel, he has etched his name in history by winning the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) twice, specifically in the 2015 and 2024 editions.
