On the evening of Saturday, June 1st, 2024, the grand final of the Champions League will take place. This encounter will oppose two teams, namely Real Madrid and Dortmund.
The particularity of this Champions League final is that Sébastien Haller, the one who charmed the Ivorians during the 2023 AFCON, will participate.
And thanks to that, he could count on the support of his compatriots for this new challenge he is about to face. But unfortunately, this will not be the case.
On Facebook, the Ivorian sports page made a post inviting Ivorians to support Sébastien Haller for the Champions League final. But many were quick to say no to that. Here are the reasons they mentioned:
“Is Dortmund an Ivorian club for all Ivorians to support? Don’t bring your Barcelona behaviors here. Down with the Barcelonians. We supported the Elephants. When they won the 2023 AFCON, our homes were broken. Today again, we will support Haller? If he wins again, we might be expelled from our country.
Never in my life. So if he leaves there for PSG next year and they qualify, you’ll support PSG? I don’t support a player, I support the whole club.
I’m a supporter of the White House, Real Madrid since 2014. It’s not today that Haller is on the other side that I will resign, never. Real Madrid is my favorite club in Europe. End of story.
This is not the African Cup. Here, these are European clubs. So I choose what I like. I love my brother, but I’m a Madridista.”
