Didier Drogba, the former Ivorian international and Chelsea striker, left a lasting impact on one of his former teammates, who still remembers it vividly.

William Gallas, the former defender for Chelsea, was teammates with Didier Drogba at the London club before joining their rivals Arsenal.

During his time at Chelsea, the Frenchman faced Drogba in training sessions regularly.

“At training, Drogba wasn’t necessarily the best, but he completely transformed during matches,” Gallas recalled. It wasn’t until he played against Drogba as a defender for Arsenal that he truly understood his prowess. Gallas described Drogba as the striker who caused him the most trouble in his career.

“The attacker who caused me the most trouble during my career is Didier Drogba!” Gallas declared. “I used to see him in training, but you know how it goes. You’re not at 100%, and Claude Makélélé, Geremi, and I used to tease Didier. I couldn’t understand why Philippe Senderos (former Arsenal defender) struggled against him.”

“But when I faced him in the league with Arsenal, he had something, an aura that I had never seen before. He intimidated you,” admitted the former Tottenham player.
