Evan Ndicka’s situation has greatly stabilized. The Ivorian defender was able to receive the necessary care and examinations to return home after his collapse against Udinese. During this ordeal, he received significant assistance. In line with the club and its supporters, José Mourinho also showed solidarity towards the Ivorian powerhouse.

Former AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho was one of the many people to react to Evan Ndicka’s health problems on Sunday afternoon. The Portuguese tactician was indeed one of the first to contact Ndicka following the sudden collapse of the player at the Dacia Arena while Roma was playing against Udinese.

Mourinho’s Kind Gesture towards Evan Ndicka

According to Corriere dello Sport, Jose Mourinho personally decided to inquire about his former protege. He picked up the phone and called the 24-year-old center-back once the club announced the positive news that the incident was not related to a cardiac crisis. Mourinho oversaw Ndicka’s arrival in the Italian capital at the time of the player’s signing, who was then a free agent. A fierce battle to secure him. As his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt was coming to an end and he was the subject of numerous solicitations across Europe, Evan Ndicka quickly found a solution for his future. The center-back had notably decided to join Jose Mourinho at AS Roma. After successfully passing his medical examination, the 23-year-old player began his new chapter with the Giallorossi under the supervision of the Special One. Although José Mourinho convinced him quickly, the Italian press explained that the former Auxerre player could also have chosen France.

It is worth noting that before this deal reached its conclusion, AC Milan and PSG had tried to get involved, much to Roma’s dismay. It was only in the final days that the Rossoneri increased their salary offer, and Paris had shown interest at the end of May, at the close of the Ligue 1 season. The capital club thought to take advantage of Ndicka’s free agent status and his French passport, a significant advantage when establishing the UEFA Champions League squad list. Ultimately, the Parisian management did not pursue this matter further, thus leaving the field open for Roma to conclude this beautiful transaction. The Roman club has therefore laid hands on a real gem. Coming out of this Sunday ordeal, he regains strength. Last Sunday, given the seriousness of the situation, Ndicka was quickly evacuated from the field and urgently taken to the hospital, escorted by the police to facilitate his journey through the city.

Upon arrival, an electrocardiogram was immediately performed at the stadium, followed by thorough medical tests at the hospital to determine the exact nature of his discomfort. A few hours later, after an anxious wait, AS Roma released an official statement dispelling fears of a heart problem, news welcomed with relief by both the team and the supporters. The results of both primary and secondary cardiological examinations confirmed the absence of cardiac pathology, thus ruling out the risk of a heart attack.

The final diagnosis revealed a less alarming but still serious condition: Ndicka had suffered a thoracic trauma resulting in a minor left pneumothorax. Although less serious than initially thought, this condition will require continuous monitoring. The club announced that Ndicka had been given permission to leave the hospital and would return to Rome for further examinations.
