On February 11, 2024, the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) took place, pitting the Ivory Coast Elephants against the Nigeria Super Eagles.
The match was won by the host country, Ivory Coast, with a score of 2-1, securing the Ivorians their 3rd trophy in CAN history.

Three months after the tournament, it’s time to take stock, with the president of the CAF, Patrice Motsepe, recently opening up about the profitability of the 2023 CAN.
Indeed, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the president of the CAF gave an interview to France 24.
During the interview, he revealed the revenue generated by the 2023 CAN in Ivory Coast, stating that it was the most successful in history. “We will continue to achieve victories. The CAN in Ivory Coast was the most successful in the history of African football,” Patrice Motsepe first declared.
He continued, “The CAN in Ivory Coast was the most profitable in our history. The numbers speak for themselves. But it can only be profitable if the quality of African football is exciting.”
Patrice Motsepe also mentioned the number of spectators who followed the African competition, which was 2.2 billion people worldwide.
Furthermore, the president of the CAF indicated that there were 120 sponsors for the edition of the CAN in Ivory Coast, whereas in the previous edition, there were only 60 sponsors.
