During a recent interview, former Ivorian international Salomon Kalou opened up about his rather unique relationship with Didier Drogba.
Throughout his career, the Ivorian midfielder played alongside Didier Drogba, both at club and national team levels.
Indeed, besides representing the Ivory Coast together, Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou also shared the Chelsea dressing room.
It was actually at the London club where the two Ivorian stars first met, recounts Salomon Kalou.
A friendship then blossomed between the two compatriots, who have continuously appreciated each other since.
“When I arrived at Chelsea, I had never met Didier,” the Ivorian star revealed, causing surprise. He continued, “When we met, the connection was natural because he’s like a big brother to me. He took me under his wing like a little brother. He would come pick me up in the evening to go eat at the restaurant.”
Salomon Kalou also designated his former teammate Didier Drogba as a true inspiration for him.
