Since his time at the Blues, every striker subsequently recruited has openly expressed their desire to follow in his footsteps.

The Marseille goal scorer left his mark on Chelsea’s history, and this influence persists to this day.

In January 2023, Chelsea spent a substantial 12 million to secure the services of a player they hope will be the next Drogba.

Dastro Fofana, the 22-year-old Ivorian international, joined the English club from Sweden’s Molde.

Last season, he played on loan at Burnley to help him adapt to the English Premier League. Since signing for Chelsea at the beginning of 2023, the young Ivorian international wasted no time in calling his idol, Didier Drogba.

Drogba offered him advice that could help him succeed at Chelsea specifically, and in football in general.

“When I signed for Chelsea, I called Didier Drogba to ask for advice. He told me to work hard, to put in the effort, and I will see results,” said Dastro Fofana.
