As his contract is set to expire in June 2026, Ivorian international Wilfried Zaha (30 caps, 5 goals) is unlikely to stay in Turkey for long. Just a year after his arrival at Galatasaray, the 31-year-old seems eager to move on as early as this summer.
The Turkish adventure hasn’t quite worked out for him. And I’m not just talking about Nantes defender Nicolas Pallois’ attempt to get some hair back on his head, but indeed about Ivorian Wilfried Zaha’s experience at Galatasaray.
According to reports from Fanatik, the former Crystal Palace player has expressed his desire to take on a new challenge. Zaha’s inclination to leave, who has also represented England internationally (2 caps in 2012-2013), doesn’t come as a surprise when you look closely at his situation.
With little game time in recent weeks (only one start in the last three months!), the Abidjan-born player notably shared a photo on his Instagram story earlier this week. Upon closer inspection, it depicts a player looking rather downcast. Zaha doesn’t seem to be thriving in Turkey. The change of scenery was too much for a player who had only played in England before this new experience.

Despite this, his season has been decent in terms of statistics, with 10 goals in total, including 9 in 27 league matches. Nevertheless, according to the media, the Turkish officials will not oppose the departure of the former Crystal Palace player, and thus will not hold him back against his will. The question remains as to what fee the Yellow and Red club will demand to part ways with the Ivorian winger. But then, who will welcome Wilfried Zaha? Perhaps a return to the Premier League, which could potentially pave the way for a return to international duty. The Ivorian’s choice remains to be seen.
