Mason Greenwood’s departure seems to be getting closer. In Italy, several sources mention a preliminary agreement between the English striker and AS Roma, which is speeding up discussions about his future.
On the other hand, Olympique de Marseille must sell before June 30 to balance their finances. In this context, Greenwood stands out as one of the main candidates to leave during this summer transfer window. Arriving with high expectations, the 24-year-old striker has generally delivered on the pitch with a statistically solid season: 26 goals and 11 assists in 45 matches across all competitions.

Internally, however, the situation has been more complex. Tensions have reportedly arisen between the player and some club officials, particularly within the sports management. Additionally, the departure of Roberto De Zerbi has also been poorly received by the English international, which has weakened his position within the Marseille squad.
Despite his stated desire to continue his adventure in Marseille, where he is under contract until 2029, the current trend points toward a separation. In recent weeks, his entourage, including his father and agent, has intensified discussions with several European clubs, including AS Roma, which has prioritized this case.
The Roman club, now very interested, sees Greenwood as a sporting priority to strengthen their attacking line under Gian Piero Gasperini. The English striker has reportedly expressed a preference for Roma’s project, especially after the club secured qualification for the next Champions League.
According to the Italian press, a preliminary agreement has been reached between the parties regarding salary terms. Greenwood is expected to earn around 4 million euros net per season, along with various bonuses and a salary that will increase over the course of his contract. The exact length of the commitment has not been officially confirmed, but some reports suggest a deal that could extend until 2031.

In terms of negotiations between clubs, Roma is preparing an initial offer estimated at around 40 million euros. On the other hand, OM is being more demanding and hopes to secure around 55 million euros to let their player go, particularly due to a sell-on clause benefiting Manchester United, estimated at 40% of the transfer amount.
At this stage, no official proposal has yet been submitted to Marseille, but discussions are progressing and the case could see a quick acceleration in the coming days.
