Since March, Moroccan international Brahim Diaz has not hidden his ambition to win the African Ballon d’Or.

Having represented Morocco four times since switching national allegiance from Spain, Brahim Diaz is aiming for the African Ballon d’Or. This goal is among his primary aspirations at Real Madrid, aside from winning titles both with the club and with the Lions of the Atlas, as he revealed in an interview broadcast on Monday.

“My goal is to win the African Ballon d’Or. We have a very strong generation. It’s now normal for the Moroccan national team to reach the World Cup semi-finals, and we must work and continue to win. (…) First, we need to win trophies as a group. We are a very good team, both at Real Madrid and in the national team. My goal is to win as a group, and then to win the African Ballon d’Or,” he said in an interview with beIN Sports.

The former AC Milan playmaker also outlined his plans with the young squad. “I grew up with values and principles, and I know how to be a team member. We are a family, we want to win trophies.

I will help the young players (El Khannouss, Ben Seghir…). I’m still young but somewhat experienced.” He also reflected on why he chose Morocco. “I chose with my heart, Morocco. My ultimate goal is to win a trophy with my country, to offer it to the Moroccan people,” he explained.

Brahim Diaz returned to training at Valdebebas on Monday after a few weeks of vacation. Last season, he proved his worth to coach Carlo Ancelotti by scoring 12 goals and providing 9 assists in 44 matches.
