Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech, currently with Galatasaray, has opened up about his previous stint in the Premier League.

Extended by Galatasaray after a satisfying loan spell last season, Hakim Ziyech briefly reflected on his time at Chelsea in England. Pushed out by the Blues last summer after a season where he saw little playing time (24 appearances for 929 minutes and 3 assists), the Moroccan winger (62 caps, 23 goals) still holds fond memories of the Premier League.

Saudi Arabia, Premier League… Ziyech makes a confession!

Ziyech misses the PL

In an interview with Nevzat Dindar, the 31-year-old admitted to missing the Premier League. When asked if he missed it, he replied, “I would say yes rather than no.” The former Ajax player spent three seasons in England from 2020 to 2023.

Despite not establishing himself in London, the Dronten native tasted European glory with Chelsea, winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup consecutively in 2021. Ziyech also highlighted the competitive nature of the Süper Lig, albeit acknowledging it’s a notch below the Premier League. “Before joining Galatasaray, I had no idea about the league. But I can tell you it’s a tough and more demanding league than I expected. It surprised me,” he revealed.

No offer from Saudi Arabia

The Lions of the Atlas captain also addressed rumored interest from Saudi Arabia, which surfaced before his contract extension with Galatasaray. The attacking midfielder denied any offers from the Saudi Pro League, emphasizing his ambitions with the Turkish champions.

“Honestly, I’m very excited for the upcoming season. Regardless of what is said, what matters is what I do. I see it day by day and I try to make the most of it. I will try to give my best this year as well,” he declared.
