Napoli and Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has sustained an injury and will miss the two World Cup 2026 qualifiers scheduled for June, as announced by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).
The federation, without specifying the nature of his injury, stated that the player will be out for four weeks. Consequently, he will be absent for the home game against South Africa on June 7th and the match against Benin, relocated to Ivory Coast, on June 10th.
The Super Eagles currently stand third in Group C with two points, having drawn both of their initial matches. South Africa occupies the second spot in the group, trailing leaders Rwanda, while Benin sits at the bottom. Kenneth Igboke, a left-back, has been called up as Osimhen’s replacement for these two qualifying fixtures.
