William Troost-Ekong missed both friendly matches for Nigeria. The Super Eagles defender had picked up an injury during the AFCON that kept him away from the field.
The AFCON’s best player is expected to return to action later in June. However, he will miss the rest of the season with his club. “I should be back and fit by May. But I think my club season is over for now.
You never know how the rehab will go, but I don’t want to rush it, as at the age of 30, you have to be smart about these injuries,” said Troost-Ekong. He could thus take part in the World Cup qualifiers against Benin and South Africa.
