Franck Ribéry, an attentive spectator at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, made no secret of his bitterness after the verdict was announced.
The evening dedicated to the prestigious trophy once again sparked much debate among soccer fans, not least because of the unexpected turn of events.
Real Madrid, outraged by the “defeat” of Vinicius Junior, ranked second behind the great winner Rodri, decided to boycott the ceremony, thus expressing their anger. The result provoked acid reactions from both Madrid fans and observers, including Franck Ribéry.
Ribéry, with a touch of irony, preferred to laugh at the final result. The former France winger reacted late in the evening via a story on social networks, punctuated with laughing emojis, clearly marking his disapproval of the voters’ choice. It’s a reaction that brings to mind Ribéry’s frustration, as he has been critical of the subject for over ten years. In 2013, when he had imagined himself taking the Ballon d’Or after winning the Champions League, Bundesliga, German Cup and European Supercup, the trophy finally eluded him in favor of Cristiano Ronaldo.
