Francis Ngannou’s trainer, Eric Nicksick, has made a major revelation about his pay after his fight with Tyson Fury on 28 October. A man with a big heart, the Predator has left a lasting impression on his long-time trainer.

Francis Ngannou’s sudden departure from the UFC in January 2022 has changed the lives of many. In search of a better life despite his MMA title, the Predator was clearly thinking only of his pocket. While he has always spoken generally in favour of better living conditions for fighters, the native of Batié has not forgotten those who work hard to prepare them: the trainers. Months after the 2023 crossover held in Saudi Arabia on 28 October against Tyson Fury, Erick Nicksick, one of the coaches of last year’s African sportsman, spoke of the generous gesture made by his colt.

Now a financially fulfilled man thanks to his seven-figure salary from his first professional boxing fight, Ngannou has spread his happiness to his team. From MMA Junkie, Erick Nicksick who is the Predator’s head trainer when it comes to MMA revealed that he shed tears of joy when he received his paycheck after his colt’s big night against Tyson Fury.

It’s the most money I’ve ever received from a fighter, it’s unbelievable. It was more than I expected. Obviously Francis has always taken great care of me, but I was stunned. When I saw my Wells Fargo account that morning, I literally burst into tears. It’s a true story. I literally burst into tears because he changed my life, not only from a professional point of view, but also from a financial point of view,” began Nicksick, who has since become a financially free man.

“He takes care of us and I can’t thank him enough”

It has given me great financial freedom to enjoy my job as a coach, to be a father and husband and to take my children to Park City this weekend for my daughter’s 16th birthday. It enabled us to buy a new car. There are a lot of things with Francis (Ngannou) that have switched to boxing, and the way he looks after his team. He loves each and every one of us and he shows it. He takes care of us and I can’t thank him enough,” continued the man who led the former UFC champion to the heavyweight throne after his departure from Fernand Lopez’s MMA Factory.

Also in his revelations, Erick Nicksick confessed that he was not Francis Ngannou’s head trainer during the fight against Tyson Fury. Although we know that Mike Tyson joined the training camp of the new number 10 boxer in the WBC heavyweight division, he confides that it was Deewey Cooper who had the role of head trainer.

“I was paid a lot more than for the Gane and Stipe fights”

Despite being downgraded from head trainer to secondary trainer in his duel with the Gypsy King, Nicksick has no regrets. “Don’t forget that as a head trainer, in the two title fights with Stipe (Miocic) and (Ciryl) Gane, he paid me more for the fight against Tyson Fury as an assistant behind Dewey,” said Nicksick. “I was behind Dewey and I got paid a lot more than I did for the Gane and Stipe fights, and he looked after me on that as well, in terms of percentage. If he wants to box, I’m all for it. All day long, brother”.

It has to be said that Francis Ngannou’s first experience of English boxing was an unprecedented event. The Cameroonian fighter has become more famous because of his performance, sending a clear message to Dana White’s UFC, who believes he is the last line of defence for athletes in the world of combat sports. In any case, Ngannou is being plucked from all sides, and in this new year of 2024, he’s going to get even richer with the scheduled duels. It’s easy to imagine the excitement among the trainers surrounding the child from Batié, who is making a lasting impression on hearts and lives wherever he goes.
