NBA – After a fortnight of voting for the 2024 All-Star Game, it seems that the die has already been cast in both East and West, with ten players standing out. LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo dominate the votes.

LeBron James Giannis Antetokounmpo votes All-Star Game 2024. Eleven days after the opening of voting for the 2024 All-Star Game, the NBA has unveiled its first tally, and we find the usual LeBron James (Lakers) leading the poll in the West, and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks) for the East. In other words, the captains of the 2019, 2020 and 2023 editions.

If the votes were to stand, it would be Stephen Curry (Warriors), Nikola Jokic (Nuggets), Luka Doncic (Mavericks) and Kevin Durant (Suns) who would accompany LeBron in the West. Victor Wembanyama is a long way behind in the poll, with around 200,000 votes and 8th place in the Froncourt category.

In the East, Antetokounmpo is ahead of Joel Embiid (Sixers), Jayson Tatum (Celtics), Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers) and Damian Lillard (Bucks). Only Trae Young (Hawks) looks likely to upset the balance, as the gaps between the Top 5 and the rest of the players are so wide.

A return to the East versus West formula

As a reminder, voting closes on 20 January, with the All-Star Game taking place in Indianapolis on 18 February. The players and media will then join the fans to choose their own All-Stars. The fans will represent 50% of the votes, while the current players and the media panel will each weigh in at 25%. The replacements, meanwhile, will be selected by the 30 coaches.

This will be a pivotal edition, as the NBA has decided to return to the old formula of East versus West. There will therefore no longer be an All-Star Draft, with two captains making up their squads without taking into account the conferences of each All-Star.
