Mike Tyson’s baffling confession after his defeat: “I’m not…”

Mike Tyson made his long-awaited return to the ring and took on Jake Paul, the YouTube sensation turned professional boxer. The fight, held at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, attracted worldwide attention, but not necessarily for the reasons we had hoped. In addition to the legend’s defeat by his 27-year-old opponent, an intriguing statement made by the former champion left a lasting impression.

After being beaten on points, Mike Tyson (58) took part in a post-fight interview where he revealed an unexpected aspect of his personality. While the commentators had noticed that he frequently bit his left glove during the fight, Iron confirmed this strange habit. “Oh, I have a habit of biting my gloves, yes. I have a biting fixation,” he immediately blurted out.  This response surprised both the interviewer, Ariel Helwani, and the audience. Helwani tried to joke. “I’ve heard about it… but I don’t want to know any more.”

Tyson’s behaviour brought back memories of his legendary (and controversial) fight against Evander Holyfield in 1997. In that clash, the legend was disqualified after biting his opponent’s ear twice. It was a moment that remains one of the most scandalous in boxing history. While biting his gloves may seem harmless, it is reminiscent of the primal instinct and fury that defined Tyson’s career. Even at 58, it seems that the former Iron Mike has not completely tamed his demons.

A disappointing performance, but determination intact

In the ring, Mike Tyson struggled against a younger, faster and clearly better prepared Jake Paul. The veteran didn’t land many memorable punches. This left the fans somewhat disappointed. Yet Tyson remained upbeat in his statements. “I’m absolutely happy, yes. I knew he was a good fighter. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone, just myself. I’m not one of those guys who wants to please the world,” he added. When asked if this fight would be the last of his career, he hinted that he wasn’t done yet. “I don’t think so. It depends on the situation.”

During the interview, Tyson surprised by mentioning a possible fight against Logan Paul, Jake Paul’s brother. In his straightforward style, he declared. “Maybe his brother.”. Logan Paul, present in the ring, immediately reacted. “Mother, I’m going to kill you Mike”.  It was a response that provoked laughter among the spectators, but one that shows that the rivalry between the Pauls and Tyson could well continue.
