Following the quarterfinals held on February 2 and 3, the African Football Confederation (CAF) disclosed the final rankings for teams participating in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2024, hosted in Ivory Coast since January 13.

This ranking outlines positions 5 through 24 in the tournament, as anticipation builds for the semifinal matches scheduled for Wednesday, February 7, and the grand finale set for the following Saturday in Abidjan. Cape Verde secured the 5th position at AFCON 2024
As anticipated, the top four spots (from 5th to 8th) were naturally claimed by the teams ousted during the quarterfinals. Cape Verde, having delivered a stunning performance yet bowing out in a nail-biter against South Africa (0-0, 2-1 on penalties), emerged as the highest-ranked nation, clinching a commendable 5th place. Meanwhile, Angola, the tournament’s dark horse reaching the third round unexpectedly, took the 6th spot.

Following are the commendable team from Mali in 7th place and the skilled squad from Guinea in 8th. Senegal, the reigning African champions, finds itself in 9th place, whereas Morocco, a semifinalist in the last World Cup, lands at a disappointing 11th position. Gambia, after losing all three group stage matches, finishes at the bottom in 24th place.
