FIFA Rankings April 2025: France drops, Morocco and Ivory Coast make a leap of…

This Thursday, April 3, 2025, FIFA published its new men’s world rankings, based on the results of 245 international matches played since the last edition in December 2024.

This ranking, which uses the Elo model to calculate points, takes into account team strength, match importance, and results.

Thanks to its recent performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, notably against Uruguay and Brazil, Argentina retains first place in the rankings.

La Albiceleste won Uruguay 1-0 before beating Brazil 4-1, thus securing its place in the 2026 World Cup.

Behind them, Spain has made significant progress and climbed to second place, overtaking France, which dropped to third.

England and Brazil occupy fourth and fifth place respectively.

On the African continent, Morocco continues its ascent and is moving ever closer to the world’s top 10. It has climbed two places to 12th, while remaining the African leader.

On the other hand, Senegal has slipped further away from the top 10. It has fallen back two points and currently occupies 19th place.

For its part, Côte d’Ivoire has made significant progress, moving from 46th to 41st in the world, thanks to its victories against Gambia and Burundi in the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
