Every year, football clubs don new jerseys, ever more beautiful, innovative, and sometimes even original. However, some hold far greater value than others.

For the most passionate football supporters, buying their beloved club’s jersey is priceless. Well, almost. It costs nearly a hundred euros, not including customization like player names or additional badges, which can further escalate the price. These revenues are welcomed by the clubs, who profit greatly from these sales. But that’s not all. Even before reaching the fans’ backs, these jerseys bring in a significant amount of money for the clubs.

This Friday, the specialized website Football Benchmark published the ranking of teams receiving the most money for their jerseys. And unsurprisingly, Real Madrid is the club earning the most from its jersey. The Merengues have thus received €190 million this year. Breaking it down, they received €120 million from their kit supplier Adidas and €70 million from their main jersey sponsor, Emirates. Following them is their Barcelona rival. The blaugrana jersey allows the Culés to cash in €175 million annually, with €105 million from Nike and €70 million from Spotify, their main sponsor since 2022.

Behind Real Madrid and Barcelona, we find Paris Saint-Germain on the third step of the podium. Indeed, the Parc des Princes residents collect €146 million per year, €80 million from Nike and €66 million from Qatar Airways. The French club is tied with Arsenal, which receives more money from its kit supplier Adidas (€88 million) but less from its main sponsor Emirates (€58 million), totaling €146 million. Just behind, we have Manchester United (€143 million), followed by Manchester City with €141 million, including €76 million from Puma and €65 million from Etihad.

Chelsea comes next with €117 million, along with Bayern Munich (€110 million). However, the German club is the one benefiting the most from its commercial revenues. According to the specialized site, the Rekordmeister has earned €419 million, representing 56% of its commercial revenues. That’s more than PSG, second with €399 million (50%), and City (€399 million, 48%). Barcelona (€395 million, 49%) and Real Madrid (€376 million, 45%) lag behind. Nevertheless, it doesn’t change the fact that the Merengues have a jersey worth its weight in gold. And this could increase further as Real Madrid will soon add a sponsor on one of the sleeves, namely HP.
