The Italian, under pressure after a recent defeat against Liverpool, spoke candidly about his team’s struggles, particularly addressing Kylian Mbappé’s current form.
With key players like Vinícius Junior, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, and David Alaba sidelined, Real Madrid is set to host Getafe at the Santiago Bernabéu with a reshuffled squad. Despite these absences, Ancelotti may field a new offensive duo, with the likely debut start of young prodigy Endrick alongside Kylian Mbappé, who is navigating a challenging period.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Insights on the Team and Mbappé
During his press conference, Ancelotti touched on several topics, including his team’s inconsistency and the criticism aimed at Mbappé. “It’s impossible to imagine a perfect season like last year. Every season comes with its share of challenges. But it’s better for these difficulties to arise now rather than in May, as we’ll have time to resolve them,” he stated.
Regarding Mbappé, Ancelotti was keen to put the criticism into perspective. “Mbappé’s issue is the same as the entire team’s. We haven’t yet found consistency or our best form. But it’s not an individual problem,” he explained, standing by his French forward.
No Panic Over the Transfer Window
With some already suggesting adjustments in the transfer market, Ancelotti reminded everyone that there’s no need to rush. “It’s a waste of time to think about recruiting now. We have 40 days to reflect on this. Things change quickly. For instance, Alaba is improving significantly and will return soon,” he concluded.
The Italian coach also praised the performances of Raúl Asensio, whom he sees as a valuable asset for the remainder of the season. “Asensio has fulfilled his role perfectly. When the injured players return, he will have earned the right to fight for a place,” he stated.
A Key Match Against Getafe
Facing Getafe, currently 15th in La Liga, Real Madrid has the opportunity to bounce back and stay within reach of league leaders FC Barcelona. A victory would help the team regain confidence and present a more convincing performance ahead of upcoming challenges.
