Trained and integrated into Real Madrid’s first team, Jesé Rodríguez, who had a disappointing stint at Paris Saint-Germain, recently made some bold statements. The Spanish forward did not hold back in criticizing his former Parisian club and its president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, while praising his time at Madrid.
Like other players such as Sergio Ramos and Marco Asensio, Jesé left Madrid for PSG, drawn by financial incentives. Eight years later, he expresses his regrets:
“If I had wanted to, I could have stayed at Madrid, but the PSG option came up. (…) They improved my contract and paid me much better than Madrid, where salaries were paid every six months. They paid very well. I earned just under five million euros gross,” he revealed on the Mowlihawk podcast.
Harsh Criticism of PSG
Now 31 and playing in Malaysia, Jesé did not hold back in condemning the treatment he received in Paris. He accused Nasser Al-Khelaïfi of ignoring and mistreating him, stating:
“The PSG president didn’t even want to see me anymore. I don’t know if he liked my wife more than me. They gave me no explanation. That’s when I realized Madrid is the best in the world at everything.”
He described the PSG president as a man who treats his players like mere pawns, a critique that highlights the perceived gap between the two clubs.
