Following Real Madrid’s defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday at San Mamés, in an early fixture of La Liga’s 19th matchday, the reactions of Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham drew particular attention from El Chiringuito TV’s cameras. While the French striker appeared relaxed despite his disappointing performance, the English midfielder displayed visible frustration.
Real Madrid suffered their fifth loss of the season, another setback for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Without the injured Vinícius Junior, the Merengues presented a worrying display in Bilbao. Kylian Mbappé, expected to step up in Vinícius’s absence, disappointed once again. Missing a penalty and showing little offensive involvement on the left wing, the French captain failed to meet expectations. Although he contributed to Jude Bellingham’s equalizer, Mbappé could not escape harsh criticism from the Spanish press.
However, Mbappé appeared to take a different approach after this defeat. Unlike other difficult nights, he quickly offered his apologies and seemed visibly relaxed as he left the stadium. Footage aired by El Chiringuito TV showed him smiling and chatting with Aurélien Tchouaméni and Luka Modric, as if trying to put the setback into perspective.
In contrast, Jude Bellingham displayed a completely different demeanor. The midfielder, who delivered an impeccable performance despite the loss, seemed deeply affected by this latest setback. The footage showed him isolated, with a serious expression and his head lowered, visibly troubled by his team’s situation. With his exemplary attitude since the start of the season, Bellingham has been carrying Real Madrid almost single-handedly, but the frustration of seeing his efforts fall short is unmistakable.
These contrasting reactions highlight two different approaches to the challenges the club is currently facing. While Mbappé’s relaxed attitude can be seen as a sign of resilience, Bellingham’s demeanor reflects the concern of a committed player, determined to help his team return to its best form.
All eyes are now on the upcoming match against Girona, where Ancelotti’s team will need to deliver a much-improved performance.
