Following the sanctions imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in response to the incidents during the 2025 AFCON final, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has not yet officially closed the case. While the Moroccan side has publicly expressed its dissatisfaction, the FSF is currently taking a reserved stance, keeping all options open.
Within the circle of FSF president Abdoulaye Fall, it is noted that the Federation has acknowledged the decisions made by CAF. These sanctions mainly concern the national coach, Pape Thiaw, several players, and the Federation itself, which has been hit with a significant financial fine. In light of this situation, the FSF wants to show its solidarity with all affected parties.

According to available information, the Federation’s leadership has expressed its full support and renewed confidence in the national coach, the sanctioned players, and the federal administration. This position aims to ensure stability within the technical and institutional framework of the national team, especially given that the disciplinary decisions taken are considered particularly harsh.
However, the FSF’s secretary general clarified that the case is not definitively closed. The Federation plans to conduct a thorough analysis of the sanctions imposed by CAF. This reassessment will focus on both the substance of the sanctions and their compliance with existing regulations. Following this review, the FSF reserves the right to take any appropriate actions. “After this review, the FSF will make its decisions within the regulatory deadlines and communicate them to the relevant CAF authorities,” stated the secretary general of the Federation.
