Habib Beye, the Senegalese coach and former captain of Olympique de Marseille (OM), is no longer the official coach of the French team, Red Star. After leading them to promotion to Ligue 2 this season, the former Marseille player has decided to part ways with the club where he first coached at a high level.

The Canal+ pundit expressed his desire to take on a new challenge after spending two good years in the National league.

There’s no doubt that Habib Beye, the former OM defender, now aims to coach a more prestigious team and compete in a bigger competition than the National league and even Ligue 2.

For this, the Senegalese is very open to proposals primarily from Ligue 1 clubs.

Moreover, he has made it clear that he would not refuse if his former club decided to hire him as a coach for the upcoming season. “If OM calls me tomorrow, I’ll go. It’s the club that has given me the most emotions since my childhood. I was its captain. If OM calls, I’m running there! I have no problem saying this,” he told our colleagues at L’Équipe.

Until proven otherwise, the current coach of the team, Jean-Louis Gasset, will leave at the end of the season and OM will need to find a new coach.

If Pablo Longoria, the president of OM, considers Habib Beye, he would quickly accept the proposal from OM, as it is his beloved club.
