Liverpool is no longer alone in the race to secure the services of young Senegalese talent Assane Diao. Juventus Turin has joined the fray.
Assane Diao has been stringing together impressive performances in Spain with Real Betis. Since last season, Liverpool has kept a close eye on him and has been circling around him persistently. But towards the end of this week, Africafoot learned of Juventus Turin’s interest in the Betis Sevilla forward.
The Turin club is ready to spend over 20 million euros for the young Senegalese attacker. Assane Diao, who was valued at only 200,000 euros in October 2023 on Transfermarkt, has seen his market value soar rapidly. It now stands at 15,000,000 euros. The Senegalese winger has played 18 games in LaLiga this season, 8 as a starter and 10 as a substitute. He has managed to score 2 goals. But it’s his offensive qualities that are making his suitors salivate.
He signed with the Real Betis reserve team in 2021. Assane Diao (18 years old) then progressed through the youth ranks until he reached the first team, where he turned professional in October 2023. His contract expires in June 2027. But if Juventus’s offer manages to sway Real Betis, it would be a significant step for the Ndongane-born native of Senegal.
