The Senegalese star of Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson, has been making headlines on social media in recent hours.
He has faced criticism from a large part of the public for allegedly endorsing racism after expressing support for Enzo Fernandez.
Fernandez was recently seen in a racially charged video targeting the French football team.
“They play for France, but they come from Angola,” the midfielder sang in a video recorded just after the 2024 Copa America final.
The video sparked numerous criticisms online, leading most of his Chelsea teammates who play for France to unfollow him. However, not all of Chelsea’s locker room has turned their back on Enzo Fernandez. Nicolas Jackson has publicly supported him.
On X, the Senegalese forward questioned the racism accusations against his teammate by sharing a photo of Enzo Fernandez with a black child.
This has surprised some internet users who did not expect such a reaction from the Blues’ striker.
Comments on his posts have been varied in the past few hours. He receives support from the Argentine community on one hand, while others criticize his stance.
Chelsea earlier announced that they would conduct investigations before making a decision regarding Enzo Fernandez.
