FC Barcelona is currently in advanced talks regarding the possible departure of young defender Mikayil Faye. The Senegalese international (1 cap, 1 goal), who played for the B team last season under Rafa Márquez, could soon be packing his bags.
Aged 19 and playing as a central defender, Mikayil Faye has garnered attention for his impressive performances with Barcelona’s reserve team in the Spanish third division (33 matches, 4 goals), as well as with the national team. Despite evident potential, Barcelona finds themselves with an excess of players in this position in the first team, making Faye’s departure highly likely, even though the player seemed inclined to stay.
According to information obtained by Sport, the iconic Spanish club is currently in discussions with FC Porto over a potential transfer for the Senegalese player. While the potential transfer fee is estimated at 15 million euros, Barcelona is insisting on including a buy-back clause and a percentage of any future sale of the player. Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, is personally involved in these negotiations. His long-standing relationship with FC Porto, where he played for many years, is facilitating discussions between the two clubs.
Le prix de Mikayil Faye serait de 15M€ et le Barça aurait une option de rachat. En attente d’autres sources. https://t.co/jA3Agu6Elq

This opportunity could allow Mikayil Faye to continue progressing in an environment conducive to developing young talents. Porto, who finished third in the 2023-2024 Portuguese league, will compete in the Europa League next season, providing the young talent with valuable experience at the continental level. Currently, discussions between the two clubs appear promising. It remains to be seen whether Mikayil Faye will soon become a Porto player, without ever having had his chance with Barcelona’s first team.
