There will be no tribute to Pathé Ciss during the Rayo Vallecano – Real Oviedo match scheduled for this Saturday afternoon (1:00 PM GMT). Suspended for this match, the Senegalese midfielder himself requested the postponement of the event.
The tributes from Rayo Vallecano to Pathé Ciss, following Senegal’s victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, will not take place for now. However, after the controversy during the match against Osasuna a little over two weeks ago, the Madrid club had announced that a tribute would be held for the player during the reception of Real Oviedo this Saturday, February 7.
In the end, it won’t happen. In an official statement published on their website, Rayo Vallecano clarified:
« At the player’s request, for personal reasons and due to his suspension following the red card received in the last match, Pathé Ciss will be allowed to miss tomorrow’s match, which will be played at the Vallecas stadium against Real Oviedo. As a result, the tribute planned before the match is postponed. »
