Real Madrid interested in another PSG player?

It’s been a surprising piece of transfer news in recent hours. Real Madrid has reportedly shown interest in a player from PSG.

Following the intense saga of Kylian Mbappé, which strained relations between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, it’s hard to imagine the two clubs negotiating a deal in the coming hours… unless the player in question is deemed surplus to requirements at his current club.

In Paris, the focus is on rebuilding without Kylian Mbappé, and several players have been encouraged to leave the club. Luis Enrique has a clear vision of what he wants to establish and the specific player profiles needed to execute his game plan. Manuel Ugarte, who had a strong start to the season with the French club, quickly fell out of favor.

Indeed, the former Sporting player completely dropped off the radar in the latter part of the season and is now available for sale, having been bought for €60 million last summer. Manchester United is reportedly leading the race, but other clubs are also interested.

In France, according to reports from France Bleu and journalist Abdellah Boulma, Real Madrid has vaguely entered the fray. “Manuel Ugarte remains on Manchester United’s radar, however, their offer still doesn’t meet PSG’s expectations. Real Madrid also shows interest in the Uruguayan midfielder,” he wrote on X. This interest comes as a surprise and appears more like a strategic move from PSG and/or the player’s entourage to increase Ugarte’s market value. Interestingly, there’s been no confirmation of this interest from Spain.

Currently, the Madrid club is focused on the Leny Yoro deal, which is a priority, followed by Alphonso Davies, with potential implications for Fran Garcia and possibly Ferland Mendy. Despite the departure of Kroos and potentially Ceballos, Real Madrid has not planned to recruit midfielders this summer.
