Après avoir remporté une victoire de 3-0 contre la Suède dans la campagne éliminatoire de l’Euro 2024, la Belgique a continué sur sa lancée en battant l’Allemagne 3-2 à Cologne lors d’un match amical. C’est la première fois depuis 1954 que les Diables Rouges ont réussi à vaincre l’Allemagne. Kevin De Bruyne, le stratège de Manchester United, a marqué un but et offert deux passes décisives, lui permettant de savourer une victoire bien méritée après la période tumultueuse qui a suivi l’élimination au premier tour de la Coupe du Monde.
« J’ai toujours gardé le plaisir de jouer. Quand on perd des matches, les gens essaient de trouver des choses qui n’existent pas. […] Il y a un peu plus d’énergie dans cette équipe pour le moment. Peut-être qu’après six ans (avec Roberto Martinez) on avait besoin d’un changement », a résumé le capitaine belge à la Rtbf.
