Habib Bèye sacked… Nabil Djellit shares his truths

After several months of hesitation and a series of disappointing results, Stade Rennais has finally confirmed the end of its collaboration with Habib Bèye. Arriving with the reputation of being a former captain of the Senegalese Lions and the ambition to bring a new dynamic, the Franco-Senegalese coach couldn’t turn the tide for the Breton club.

While the sporting results weighed heavily in the decision of the management, the internal context also seems to have played a significant role. Behind the scenes, the atmosphere was clearly not conducive to a calm working environment, which gradually undermined the coach’s position.

For journalist Nabil Djellit, this departure is almost a relief for the former Senegal international. According to him, Habib Bèye was working in an environment that had become too heavy to hope for building a solid long-term project.

“Habib Bèye is thanked. Better this way. Better for him. The climate was too unhealthy to work. For Rennes, we know what comes next, whether we like it or not,” he wrote.

Before his time at Rennes, Habib Bèye had built a solid reputation on the bench of Paris FC. He notably made an impression by helping the club rise to Ligue 1, confirming his qualities as a builder and his ability to structure a high-performing team. This journey contrasts sharply with his experience at Rennes, where the circumstances never seemed fully aligned for him to express his vision.
