After the conclusion of the 2024 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, won by Ivory Coast on home soil, attention is already turning to the dates of the 2025 AFCON, sparking a lively debate.
Indeed, while African football enthusiasts ponder over whether the tournament should be held in the summer or winter, recent leaks from CAF suggest that the qualifiers for the 2025 AFCON will commence as soon as next March. The preliminary round is thus scheduled from March 18 to March 26, 2024.

The dates for the first and second matchdays are initially set for September 2 to September 10, 2024, but may be subject to further confirmation from CAF.
The third and fourth matchdays are expected to be scheduled from October 7 to October 15, 2024, while matchdays 5 and 6 will take place from November 11 to November 19, 2024.
These dates are expected to be officially confirmed by a statement from CAF in the coming weeks.
