Algerian international Youcef Belaili has expressed the national team’s determination to win its third continental title at the CAN 2024.
Youcef Belail is one of the national team players selected for CAN 2024, after missing the last eight international matches.
In an interview with the CAF website, the Oran native spoke optimistically to the Algerian public:
“For this edition in Côte d’Ivoire, our aim is to win the title, and we’re aiming for our third crown,” he said.
The MC Alger striker expects “the level to be high at this edition of the African Cup. The teams from the dark continent emphasize the physical aspects of the game, and we have an excellent team.
We’ll be going to Côte d’Ivoire to get a good result,” he stressed.
Youcef Belaili confident
With regard to the Algerian team’s disappointing performance at the 2022 edition in Cameroon, the MC Alger player explained the lacklustre performance and negative results by the mediocrity of the pitch.
As a reminder, Youcef Belaili took part in four qualifiers for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, out of a total of six matches, including three as a starter. He scored one goal and provided one assist.
Prior to Côte d’Ivoire, Youcef Belaili had already taken part in the final phases of the Africa Cup of Nations at the last two editions, in Egypt in 2019 and Cameroon in 2022.
It’s almost a foregone conclusion that he’ll be selected for the CAN 2024, given his strong comeback in recent months.
