The African Football Confederation (CAF) quickly responded to the complaint filed by AS FAR Rabat following the incidents during their last group stage match in the Champions League.
On the final day of the group stage of the 2025-2026 African Champions League, on Sunday at the International Stadium in Cairo, Egypt, AS FAR Rabat was targeted by some Al Ahly supporters during the goalless draw (0-0). The Moroccan club announced that it has approached CAF to request the application of sanctions.

“The management of AS FAR strongly condemns the unsportsmanlike behavior of some Al Ahly supporters, particularly the throwing of bottles, which endangers the safety of players and the technical staff. The club specifies that it has taken the necessary steps by sending a correspondence to CAF to demand the application of the sanctions provided for by the regulations, in respect of fair play principles and to ensure the safety of all involved,” the club stated.
On Monday, CAF responded with a statement, also condemning “in the strongest terms the acts constituting unacceptable incidents” and announcing the opening of an investigation by the disciplinary committee.
“In accordance with its regulations, CAF has forwarded the file related to these events to the Disciplinary Jury for investigation. Anyone found guilty will be subject to the sanctions provided for by the regulatory provisions,” the African body clarified.
