CAN 2028: Three Bids Approved

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially approved the bids to host the Africa Cup of Nations 2028. Three options remain in the running to host this grand celebration of African football: Morocco, Ethiopia, and a joint bid from South Africa and Botswana. The final decision will be announced during a meeting scheduled for this weekend.

Three Contenders for AFCON 2028

Morocco, already praised for the quality and modernity of its sports facilities, is among the selected candidates. Ethiopia, with its rich football tradition, aims to host the tournament on its soil. Finally, South Africa and Botswana have chosen to unite in a joint bid, leveraging their complementary strengths to persuade the CAF.

This technical validation is a crucial step before the final announcement. Hosting the AFCON is a major challenge, both for infrastructure development and for enhancing the international profile of the host country. The African football world is now eagerly awaiting the decision from the CAF Executive Committee.
